About History

Location

Edavanakad is a small coastal village on Vypin Island situated in the coastal lines of Ernakulam district in the southern state of Kerala in India. There is a state highway passing through the village.

General information

"Edavanakkad" has schools, a couple of hospitals and banks. Hidayathul Islam Higher Secondary School (HIHS S), Kumara Panicker Memorila School (KPMHS), Federal bank branch etc are few of them. Edavanakad is also known for St. Ambrose Church which is considered to be the only church in the name of St. Ambrose in India. Apart from that there are temples and mosques in the village. Most of the people are educated and friendly. The coastal lines of the village attracts many tourists. The village is famous for the availability of fresh water and marine fishes. Edavanakad is also close to the Cherai beach.
